What was I thinking?

So after a long time of my husband and children begging me to get another cat, (and my Mom working on me) I finally relented and we got two. Rufus and Raina, two black and white kittens that were half off at CAT adoption center because nobody wants black cats. Nana and Papa actually bought them as a Christmas present. We are now back to 3 cats, including our 11 year old kitty Charlotte. 3 kids, 3 cats, and 3 fish. Why did I say yes to any of those? It's pretty crazy what Steve talks me into. But it usually works out well in the end. Here's hoping the latest additions don't ruin the few remaining items the kids haven't managed to destroy. They are kinda cute!

If you are in the Portland area and looking to adopt, CAT Adoption Team is awesome! They are the Pacific Northwest’s largest nonprofit, no-kill cat shelter with its own full-service veterinary Hospital onsite. When you adopt a cat they come already micro-chipped, spayed/neutered, vaccinated and tested for all sorts of problems. They make it really easy. There are always kittens, but they have many adult kitties that would love a good home. They come in as strays or people give them up after divorces, or just decide they don't want a cat anymore. How sad. The adult cats are already house trained and senior cats are half-price. I was pushing for an adult cat, but my husband insisted the girls needed to experience kittens.

The Painted Veil

I'm really not sure how I missed this one? I watched this movie while I was sick in bed yesterday, and it is probably the best movie I have seen in a long time. The story was brilliant, the score was haunting, and the acting was impeccable. I totally got lost in this movie, which rarely happens.

I didn't even know this movie existed, let alone the book, which apparently was a masterpiece. I truly recommend this movie to anyone. Don't read the plot before you see it, just trust me, and watch it. It's mostly set in China, but begins in London with a shallow Brittish woman who marries a man she is not in love with to escape and spite her parents (though he is in love with her). They move to Hong Kong where he works as a microbiologist. She quickly gets bored, and that is where the movie gets exciting.
I'm still thinking about this story today.....

Becky Kelso Jewelry

Here is the first in my series of covetable jewelry: Becky Kelso
Becky Kelso is my favorite jewelry designer of the moment. Her designs are romantic and gorgeous, yet simple and classic. The majority of her designs incorporate a beautiful crown bezel setting with an intricate band. And then what sets her designs over the top are the gorgeous faceted stones she chooses. Her settings really allow the stones to shine, which of course is what it is all about!
I would be extremely happy to own any of the above rings. They are amazing! (Steve?) She sells at small boutiques around the US and has been featured in many fashion magazines. I love the fact that she still stays true to her roots and everything is handcrafted in a small scale. That means you will probably never see another person wearing your Becky Kelso ring, necklace, or earrings!

Pacifica Candles

http://www.pacificaperfumes.com/

I have always been a huge fan of Pacifica! They have the best natural fragrances I have ever smelled. And I am VERY picky. I love the body butter, candles, and perfume. They have a french lilac scent that is the only thing I have ever found that truly smells like lilac! Not to mention that everything in their product line is made from natural essential oils that are ecologically sound, free of parabens, lead, propylene glycol, and phthalates, AND they are vegan, cruelty free, and made right here in Portland, Oregon!

The candles are all high quality soy or wax with no lead and not harmful to inhale like most candles on the market. They really take the boredom out of candles and make them feel special.

My favorite scents:
French Lilac
Tibetan Mountain Temple
Bali Lime Papaya
Tahitian Gardenia
